Open Day 2023 - Saturday 18th March
As part of the Cambridge Science Festival 2023, the Institute of Astronomy and the Kavli Institute for Cosmology will be open to the public on Saturday 18th March, 2-6pm.
There will be activities, demonstrations, and games suitable for all ages provided by the Institute of Astronomy, The Kavli Institute for Cosmology, and the Cambridge Astronomical Association.
There will be a series of popular lectures given throughout the day by IoA and Kavli researchers:
- 2:30pm: The Dark Universe, Alex Amon
- 3:15pm: JWST and Galaxies, Sandro Tacchella
- 4:00pm: The Magnetic Universe, Prakriti PalChoudhury
- 4:45pm: Unraveling the Sun's mysteries, Yamini Rao
There will be activities for all ages, including children's craft activities provided by the Whipple Museum, SunSpaceArt workshops, a cloud chamber, a simulated Venus room, Kerbal Space Program, an obstacle course, and more!
In addition, the Cambridge Astronomical Association will present planetarium shows at 2:20pm 3:00pm, 3:40pm, 4:20pm, 5:00pm, and 5:40pm.
This event is free, and you don't need to book. Please note there is limited parking on site, which we will keep for disabled visitors only. Please park on the West Cambridge site and walk across to the Institute, or use the Madingley Road Park and Ride (10 minute walk).
